This topic is place where Mark’s Calc I students can ask questions about our quiz 2 review.
I think that’s 4 points out of 5. Can anyone see where the missing point went?
I got basically the same answer I just didn’t keep going, but I can’t figure out what is wrong with it.
f’(x)= e^-x^2(-2x)(sin(22x)) + e^-x^2(22)(cos(22x)
Your answer is different.
but if I multiplied it out wouldn’t it be the same? Also is mine right lol?
Joey: I would take a point off for writing
e^(-x^2) * -2
The times followed by a -2 does not parse in mathematical writing.
Well, I replied to Joey to let him know what my problem was. His was written out by hand, though.
Honestly, this doesn’t look quite right either:
e^-x^2(-2x)
I like the fact that you’ve got your -2x in parentheses. I think you also need the -x^2 in parentheses, too, so I’d type it out like
e^(-x^2) (-2x) or maybe -2xe^(-x^2).
I don’t know how you might have written that down by hand, though.
Can you explain the steps for question 1? I understand the answer but feel I am missing a few steps.
